This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines what you may and may not do with MevoHost services. Violations may result in immediate suspension or permanent termination of your account.
1. Overview
MevoHost provides shared infrastructure used by thousands of customers. To protect the security, performance, and reputation of our platform — and to comply with applicable laws — we require all customers to use our services responsibly and lawfully.
2. Prohibited Content
You may not use MevoHost services to host, distribute, or transmit any content that:
- Violates any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation
- Is obscene, harmful to minors, or constitutes child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
- Infringes any intellectual property rights, including copyright, trademark, or patent
- Constitutes defamation, harassment, or invasion of privacy
- Promotes discrimination, violence, or hatred against any group
- Contains malware, ransomware, spyware, or other malicious code
- Is fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading
3. Prohibited Activities
You may not use MevoHost services to:
Network & Security Abuse
- Launch Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks or any other network attacks
- Perform port scanning, network probing, or vulnerability scanning of systems without authorisation
- Gain or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system, network, or account
- Intercept or monitor network traffic without authorisation
- Operate open mail relays or proxies
- Run Tor exit nodes or similar anonymisation services
Spam & Email Abuse
- Send unsolicited bulk email (spam) or commercial messages without recipient consent
- Harvest email addresses or personal information without consent
- Use our services to facilitate phishing, spoofing, or email fraud
Resource Abuse
- Use excessive CPU, memory, or bandwidth in a way that degrades service for other customers on shared hosting plans
- Run cryptocurrency mining operations on any plan
- Run torrent seeding or peer-to-peer file sharing software
- Run scripts that stay running after an HTTP session ends (on shared hosting)
Legal & Compliance
- Operate online pharmacies or sell controlled substances without appropriate licences
- Operate illegal gambling services
- Violate export control laws or sanctions
- Process payment card data in a non-PCI-DSS-compliant manner
4. Copyright Infringement (DMCA / UK Copyright)
MevoHost respects intellectual property rights. If you believe content hosted on our platform infringes your copyright, submit a takedown notice to abuse@mevohost.com with the following:
- Your name and contact details
- A description of the copyrighted work and the infringing content
- The URL where the infringing content is hosted
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised
- A declaration that the information provided is accurate and you are the rights holder or authorised to act
We will review valid notices and respond within 5 business days.
5. Reporting Abuse
To report a violation of this AUP, email abuse@mevohost.com with details of the issue. We investigate all reports and take appropriate action, which may include suspension, termination, or referral to law enforcement.
6. Enforcement
We reserve the right to investigate any suspected violation of this AUP. Upon discovering a violation, we may take any of the following actions at our sole discretion:
- Issue a warning
- Suspend specific services or your entire account
- Terminate your account without refund
- Refer the matter to law enforcement or relevant authorities
Serious violations — including CSAM, network attacks, or fraud — will result in immediate permanent termination and referral to law enforcement.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP as our services evolve or as new threats emerge. We will notify customers of material changes by email with at least 14 days notice.
